Spanish Stint
After conquering the new world I finally made it home. Coming back home after so long was fun - but I soon found myself on yet another plane, headed to Spain this time. I was going back to Madrid to meet up with Teresa for a short vacation in Spain before heading over to Oxford for some serious study. By that I mean Teresa was going to study seriously while I was going to seriously enjoy some lazy times.
And so we roamed the streets of Madrid for a couple of days before making our way to Barcelona. It was fun to be back in Madrid - I had been there so many times before that it felt a little bit like going home. It even turned out that I had opened up a hairdressing business there without realizing it.
Our stay in Madrid was short and fun but the trip's main attraction was to be Barcelona. We were both feeling quite lazy - Teresa from working hard and travelling with her students, and me from travelling hard and not working - so we decided to take it easy. Apparently we weren't the only tourists with this problem, as was evident by some of the shops we encountered there:
We weaved our way in and out, up and down, and all around various crazy buildings which are spread throughout Barcelona. I had heard much about these before going there and I must admit I wasn't too impressed with what I saw. Don't get me wrong - they're very interesting and it seemd to me it would probably be fun to live in some of those houses, but none of it was as amazing as I was expecting.
As with anything else this also had an exception. I am speaking of course about La Sagrada Familia. I have little to add about this structure to what has already been said and written about it. I can only tell you what went through my mind when I saw it: "Ay caramba. This guy was crazy!"
Unfortunately the church is still under construction but when it is finished I'm sure it will be even more popular than it is today.
We kept strolling through the city, visiting the various sites and parks, and taking in a lot of sun. We were sitting on the beach one evening when all around us the entire city erupted into a frenzy of explosions and fires. Good timing! This was the Festival de San Joan and wherever we looked we saw fireworks. In the sky, on the beach, in the sea - everywhere! The people of the city kept this up the entire night and we slowly drifted to sleep to the sound of the war going on outside.
With that our little Spanish stint was over and we headed to the Land of the Engs!

My brother has a new baby girl. It will probably be some time before I get to see her but I'm sure she sends her regards to all of you.

The Human Race 10K
With some delay, as usual I'm posting our pictures from the Tel Aviv Night Run on 31.08.08.
It was a 10km run that started at the Rabin sq. and ended in the sportek. Me, Alona and Gal all finished it it just a bit more than 1 hour.
Those are snapshots from automatically taken videos at the finish line. Each participant had a personal chip, this way they measured the exact time and took those personal videos.
